Browse our inventory of used Jeep Wranglers

The Wrangler is a rule breaker among used-SUV choices because it's a vehicle that delivers what few others can-timeless styling, the open road, and freedom to escape paved roads. Its front grille with seven slots and its squared off body shape set it apart from other classic cars.

But the Wrangler can also serve as an everyday commuter and family car, and thanks to various body styles and trims from decade to decade, some comfort options, and dedicated off-road capability, it suits many kinds of drivers.

Design for Open Air Driving

Open-air driving is among the most significant selling points of the Wrangler. Depending on the year and equipment, the convertible top of the Wrangler can be totally removed or, in some vehicles, just the roof panels in the middle of the vehicle come away to provide the feeling of open-air driving. So can most or all of the doors on many vehicles, and the windshield and other parts are tailor made for open road configurations.

That versatility is part of what makes them great for scenic drives, summer rides, or outings through East Tennessee or Michigan countryside. Before you buy, take a peek at the top and seals, latch panels, and hardware to determine what hardware and accessories are included.

Two Door or Four Door: Which Fits Your Life?

This is the smaller, more traditional option in the class. While it may have a less spacious cabin and cargo space, its shorter length may feel easier to navigate in tight parking lots and along narrow trails. Ideal for lone drivers, couples, and shoppers.

The four door Wrangler (sometimes called the Wrangler Unlimited) provides extra space in the back for rear-seat passengers and adds cargo length. Its longer wheelbase means more utility for a night out with friends, pets, and extended road trips.

But, it also means the longer body may not feel as manoeuvrable in tighter city environments, and both versions may feel different than a crossover when on the move.

Four Wheel Drive and Outdoor Activities

The four wheel drive systems offered on the Wrangler form part of what makes it one of a highly respected vehicle. A used model may be ready for anything from off roads and muddy access tracks to snow and gravel roads.

If you prefer a trip to the outdoors, the Wrangler can handle camping supplies, fishing gear, hiking equipment, and beach or lake day gear. But, customers should pick the vehicle based on your real plans and be aware that off road driving requires planning, the right gear, and staying on the right routes.

The Wrangler is up to these daily chores as well, but not without concessions. Its squared-off design, removable roof, and body on frame construction contribute to higher levels of wind and road noise than most SUVs. Driving the Wrangler on city and highway roads is a good way for customers to find out whether they can use this rugged off road vehicle as their everyday vehicle, too.

Wrangler Trims for Various Lifestyles

Trim names and equipment also change from year to year, but some popular trim names will give you a sense of the variety. Sport models tend to emphasize the Wrangler's primal nature and serve those who want the basic package rather than more luxury features.

Most Willys versions focus on tough looks and off-road focused trim, which will appeal to drivers that enjoy a tough style and features made to conquer the trail. Sahara trims are often more comfortable and stylish and might appeal to buyers who want something that's easier to drive on a daily basis. Rubicon editions are equipped with more serious off-road equipment.
